What Happens in an Auto Accident?

young man holding neck in pain after car wreckWhen you’re in an automobile accident, the force of the impact is absorbed by your body and can result in serious injuries. Even low-speed fender-benders can cause significant whiplash injuries, which, if left untreated, can lead to severe spine damage and early degeneration. The condition of your car after an accident is not a good indicator of how much damage your body has sustained because modern cars are designed to withstand tremendous force with minimal deformation–but your body is not!

Whiplash is one of the most common car accident injuries. This type of injury occurs when the soft tissues that surround the spine get damaged. The two most common symptoms of whiplash are neck pain and stiffness. These often don’t occur until a day or two after the accident, and many patients ignore these symptoms or take painkillers until they “go away.”

Unfortunately, while the initial pain and stiffness may subside, the soft tissue damage will not heal correctly if not addressed.

Our Approach to Care

It’s important to get a thorough chiropractic exam after a car accident, even if you’ve already been seen by your primary care doctor or in the ER. The types of injuries we identify and correct are not typically detected by other doctors. At Abundant Health Physical Medicine, we have nearly a decade of experience in identifying and correcting injuries caused by auto collisions. We have an on-site digital X-ray machine to assist in diagnosing your condition.

Dr. Sinan will develop a care plan customized to your specific needs, and may incorporate rehab exercises and other therapies and modalities to provide the best results. We will work collaboratively with other providers such as your neurologist or orthopedist to provide the most comprehensive approach to your total recovery.

Don’t Wait!
