Spinal & Knee Decompression in Davenport

person on a decompression tableThe most common issues we see people for at Abundant Health Physical Medicine are knee pain because of damage to the joint, and low back pain. When we look at their X-rays, there is usually a degenerated disc and loss of disc space in the low back. Many people assume their knee pain is a result of bone rubbing on bone when often it’s not.

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression is an FDA-cleared therapy that’s been in use since the early 1990s. A conservative, non-invasive treatment, spinal decompression is computer monitored intermittent traction applied to the spine using a specially designed table. You’ll feel intervals of gentle pulling, then release during your session, designed to release tension between the vertebrae.

Proper disc spacing is restored, allowing the disc to settle back into its normal position. The decrease in disc pressure may reduce disc bulging or herniation, strengthen tissues surrounding the disc and spine, and stimulate healing. Patients feel no pain and, in most cases, find it relaxing.

Spinal decompression has proven helpful for conditions such as:

  • Herniated or bulging disc(s)
  • Degenerative disc(s)
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Chronic neck or back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Pinched nerve
Dr. Sinan did a recent trial session for a man who had about 10° of forward bend at the hips. After the session was over, he was able to touch his toes for the first time in six years!

Knee Decompression

Patients with chronic knee pain often think surgery is the only answer. Our doctors use orthopedic testing, ultrasound imaging, X-rays and Fit3D scans to determine whether you’re a candidate for decompression therapy.

Most patients will experience a better range of motion and less pain immediately. In many cases, when combined with other knee and low back treatments, they’re able to avoid drugs and surgery and get back to doing the things they love to do.
